Furniture, Fixture and Equipment Appraising
Equipment appraising also known as FF/E or Furniture, Fixture and Equipment appraising covers anything not considered real estate. It maybe office furniture, jewelry, antiques, art, trucks, bulldozers, machine shop equipment, manufacturing equipment, restaurant equipment, etc.
In this field of appraising the comparable does not have to be the exact same manufacturer, or model, or year made, just something similar that does the same thing. To be successful in this field is to know where to find, and source your information from data bases.
This field of valuing typically has many different values requested than the Real Estate or Business appraising. There is the Market Value in Use, Market Value not in use, Liquidation value, and Orderly Liquidation value, to name a few. The Forced Liquidation Value is typically the value someone would pay right here, right now through an auction, live or on-site. The Orderly Liquidation value is a liquidation sale over a given period of time with an emphasis on ‘as is’ ‘where is’.
